Blame the Gays

File this one under "Pat Robertson."

A prominent Israeli Kabbalahist, Rabbi David Basri, is blaming a recent outbreak of bird flu in Israel on the Gays. Apparently, in a prelude to elections, some left-wing parties have been campaigning to legalize gay marriage in Israel. Basri has reportedly claimed that the bird flu outbreak is divine retribution for the parties' "strengthening and encouraging [of] homosexuality." Rather than having any connection to say, deforestation or pollution, it is in actuality "God punish[ing] depravity first through plagues against animals and then in people." Of course, the greed, corruption, violence and other assorted depravity of heterosexuals is apparently A-OK.

No word yet whether the Gays are responsible for Bjork's fabled swan outfit.
